"First allow my husband Matt and I to say, DON'T GIVE UP
HOPE! We did extensive research into different programs all over
the world. We sent emails to almost every fertility program
available, desperately hoping to find a doctor who could give us
the answers we needed and offer us a Donor Egg package we
could afford. In the United States the fees quoted were
$35,000 and up. Our package with Dr. Nabel was approximately one
sixth of the quoted prices from the U.S. We were so happy to
know there was a program available we could afford-- could this
be too good to be true?
Dr. Adan Nabel was the Fertility doctor
we decided to use for the Donor Egg program. We had never
experienced such interest as we did from Dr. Nabel-- Not only
was he interested; he was so very kind and sincere. We were anxious
to begin the process. Dr. Nabel was always professional-
obtaining all the necessary medical information first and
foremost. Within one month after our first contact- a donor had
been selected, and Dr. Nabel was trying to prepare both myself
and the donor for synchronizing and the upcoming egg
removal and IVF procedure. Within six weeks after my first
contact with the doctor-- I arrived in Buenos Aires. The entire
procedure was so effortless and uncomplicated for me as the
patient and recipient. Little did I know, I left Buenos Aires
carrying two baby girls! Twins!
Wow! Unfortunately, I lost one
of our girls at 14 weeks of pregnancy. Unfortunately,
there are no guarantees. We did have Isabella on Feb. 5th 2008.
She was delivered at 35 1/2 weeks because I experiencing
symptoms of Preeclampsia--thus a c-section was unavoidable. She
only weighed 2060 grams (a little over 4 lbs.) but received very
high Apgar scores when born. She went home with us two days
later and remains healthy. She is the light of our lives! I
would like to also mention Dr. Nabel stayed in constant
communication with us. I live in Costa Rica, he could have
easily forgotten me upon leaving Buenos Aires. He was more
like a caring friend- never going long without dropping us a
note as to how the pregnancy was coming along. Like I said- the
CARE factor was A+!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! His facility we
used for the transfer was extremely clean. All medical staff
involved were very professional and very efficient. We hope this
shared experience will help any and all hopeful parents make
their decision a little easier. We wish you the the best of
